Shakel Ahmed is an experienced cybersecurity professional and technology leader with more than 20 years in the industry. He helps organisations understand how well their technology and security measures would stand up to a real cyber attack, and what they can do to improve their protection.
His career in technology began in computer programming. Since then he has worked across technical support, account management, presales and senior solutions engineering in the UK and the Middle East, as well as leading and supporting technical teams, giving him experience of both the technical and the people-focused sides of the industry.
His areas of interest include cybersecurity awareness, AI security, computer programming, security testing, cloud security, cyber resilience and understanding how attackers operate. He also works with students to explore the range of technical, creative, analytical and people-focused careers that cybersecurity offers.
Alongside his professional work, Shak is the founder of CyberDesserts.com, a learning and skills resource for cybersecurity practitioners and students, and writes the CyberDesserts blog at blog.cyberdesserts.com. He mentors people entering and developing their careers, speaks at conferences and community events including InfoSec Europe and the ISC2 London Chapter, and creates illustrated material that makes subjects such as passwords, phishing and online safety easier to understand and remember. He lives in Oxfordshire, England.
